Salamire

Salamire is a lazy Pokemon found in hot and humid environments where is buries itself in wet mud or sludge to keep cool. Preferring to wait for prey to come close to it, Salamire's poison barbs will protrude from its hiding place and be trodden on by the unwary, paralyzing them; this can also be dangerous to humans who accidentally stand on them too. The green bulbs on Salamire's body are actually poison glands that burst when it's threatened, spreading a virrulent poison on nearby assailants, allowing the Pokemon to escape.

Salamarsh

When Salamire evolves into Salamarsh, the poison glands on its body start to ooze, coating the Pokemon's body with a thick layer of sludge-like goo; this acts as a cooling agent, allowing Salamarsh to be a more active hunter and provides it with a defense against being eaten itself. When attacked, Salamarsh uses its poison-barbed tail to defend itself and inject poison into opponents.

Dragoop

These Pokemon are found in deep swamps and marshes, often in the sludge at the bottom - they can hold their breath for an hour, storing air pockets in their long necks (which are also used to poke their head above water long enough to refill their lungs). The poison glands on Dragoop's back have evolved into barbs that can be flung at opponents, eploding with acidic toxins on contact. The thick sludge they leak to cover the Pokemon's body acts as both coolant and thick armour, softening attacks before they reach Dragoop's body mass; it has even been known to catch and hold smaller Pokemon for later consumption.
