Elemental Eye Symbols by Trueform Elemental Eye Symbols by Trueform
Elemental Eye in symbol form.

A table of elements I'm working on called the Elemental Eye. That's all I'm willing to say about the project it will be used in for now, but it is not Pokemon; elements and typing have been around in games for a LONG time before that! It is based on an extended version of the five chinese elements, the Wu Xing. Here's a few more details on the eye:

I wanted something in the shape of a symbol you could call up on a screen quickly to look at. I also wanted it to be fairly simple and not too 'spidery' and cross-crossing like Pokemon's type system; there are a few other little details that should be noted, mostly to do with what monster design would fit in where:

:bulletblue: MYTH
--------------------
Not only will you find dragon-type designs here, but anything based on signature legendary creatures such as Griffins, Minotaurs, etc.

Myth and legend are created by the minds of man, but equally able to confuse them

:bulletblue: MIND
------------------
Designs based around psychic and magical powers - powers based on the mind, obviously - will be under this element.

The minds of man create myth, but can be confounded by their presence

:bulletblue: VOID
-------------------
Ghost and Dark-based designs - as well as anything sinister and supernatural - will be found under the Void element.

Void casts a shadow over the earth and blackens it with taint

:bulletblue: EARTH
-------------------
Rock and ground-based designs are all under the Earth element umbrella term. No need to over-complicate things.

Earth grounds the storm's lightning and passes it harmlessly through its form

:bulletblue: LIGHTNING
--------------------
Anything based around electricty will be a lightning element. I was tempted to headline this under 'air' but designs like my electric snail, for example, would look a little weird being an Air element ;p there are also creatures in nature that use electricity as a weapon so making it a seperate element makes more sense.

Lightning splits the clouds and sky, arcing unrestrained through the air

:bulletblue: AIR
-----------------
Designs based around flying creatures or sky/cloud based creations are classed as air. Anything thay may use wind and wings as a weapon.

Air can turn to mighty winds, hurling the strongest of matter as if it were nothing

:bulletblue: MATTER
------------------
I may change this to Might or Brawn, I'm unsure yet. This is your fighting type designs, anything that bases its attacks on enhanced muscle strength or martial arts fighting skills.

Matter contains almighty strength that can bend even metals with focused force

:bulletblue: METAL
-------------------
Anything that has metal as a primary design feature is in this element. Metal is one of the five elements of the Wu Xing and is traditionally the counter of Wood, but I had to make some adjustments.

Metal is resilient to viruses and unyielding to poisonous corruption

:bulletblue: BIO
------------------
Designs that use poison in any form (including radiation and industrial substances) will be classified under 'Bio'. Although I could have looped this under 'nature' at a stretch, designs like Tartar and other industrial ideas would look a little strange without this element.

There is no living thing found in nature that can't be felled by germ or poison

:bulletblue: NATURE
------------------
Compiling bug and grass into nature seems pretty logical to me, so that's the designs you can expect to be found under this element.

Every living thing found in nature takes sustenance from the waters of life

:bulletblue: WATER
-------------------
I've combined water and ice into the one 'water' type; ice is frozen water, so why not? Any design based on snow, ice, water or aquatics will be classified as the water element.

Water and cold takes the rage and aggression from heat and flame

:bulletblue: FIRE
--------------------
Should be obvious, this one ;p if it's fire or heat? It's a fire element.

Even the smallest flame can light the darkness and keep the void at bay

Sorry, this is a personal work and can't be used by others.

Thank you, that would be kind of you :) I don't mind things like that - it's just since I'm using it for a project of my own, I didn't want someone to take it! Fan art and things like that are always welcome :aww: I'm pleased you like it :D

Depends on the core design elements - Fairy is something that will be tough to categorize, I must admit, though I think myth will be the closest :)

Um, I kinda found a small mistake. From the word Confuses in the pic, there is an arrow pointing to both Mind and Myth. Instead, the arrow from Confuses to Myth should be the other way around.

Could I maybe use the base of this (not necessarily the eye, but the theme) and the style in my own drawings? Not to copy or anything. It just inspires me. If you say no, I'm cool with that

Well the elemental eye is going to be the symbol for my project, but of course as long as it isn't a a straight-out exact of this one there's nothing to stop you making a chain of your own :) a lot of elements have been used in other games and suchlike before :aww:

Really cool. Love the idea of a full chain of dominance in the elements. I'm still working on trying to create my own sheet of elements.

Thanks so much :aww: yeah it's tough to keep them balanced and making a more advanced version would be even more of a challenge but I liked the purity of having the full chain :)

Thanks again :aww: lol it comes from many years of playing video games :XD: they've used the rock-paper-scissors style of strengths and weaknesses from pretty early on, but for me I just tried to keep them grounded in some kind of logical flow :)

This is really cool and inspiring. I like the way you describe each element and how they overcome other ones, well thought out.
Are your monsters only going to be 1 type? Jyst cos if so, might be hard work with a Myth element (i.e. a Griffin could be Myth or Air)

Thank you, I'm pleased you like it :aww: it took me a while to balance it out, but it is a fun thing to do. The monsters will have more than one type because as you say, the possibilities would be too wide otherwise :) I like to make designs that are fairly obvious to determine on sight :)

Looking at that metal symbol. I have an idea for a fakemon now.

Also, now I am done drawing my grass/flying starters.

001 - Leaflet (Leaf and Owlet)
002 - Grosoar (Grow and Soar)
003 - Bloomflight (A play on boomflight, and bloom)

Oh the legendary Quad? The 4 horsemen of the apocalypse I believe?

-Conquest
-War
-Famine
-Death (I saw this one on your profile)

Yeah it can be hard to do it without making it look like Digimon. I wish that there was only one of the two.

Yep they'e the ones! Though there are many variations, war is somtimes called conquest, and pestilence is the other one :)

I think the more human-like or cyborg-like they look, the closer to digimon they look. Adding weapons usually makes them look like a digimon too.

May I use these signs for a project I'm doing? A few of them are perfect for what I'm aiming for, and I would like to use the basic design for symbols for my characters.
